I utilize Gameplay Assessments and Video Analysis with members of the SCHH Pickleball Club to (1) identify gameplay strengths and weaknesses, (2) design coaching and training plans to improve performance, and (3) measure and confirm progress.
Gameplay Assessments
Gameplay Assessments (sometimes called Gameplay Checks) can be scheduled and conducted on Court 20 at the West Amenity Center (home base for my private coaching practice). In addition, assessments can be scheduled and conducted at the court where you are playing. This is an approach I’ve used here at SCHH with players and teams participating in pickleball club tournaments or Lowcountry Pickleball League matches.
During gameplay, I observe and evaluate performance across 22 indicators in these eight major areas:
- Footwork, movement, and readiness
- Shot preparation and setup
- Court positioning and coverage
- Teamwork and communication
- Shot selection
- Shot quality (1st four shots)
- Defensive resets
- Gameplay strategy
After gameplay, I provide immediate feedback and if you desire, I can document a written 2-3 page Gameplay Evaluation Report with priority areas for improvement and recommended next steps.
Video Analysis
I utilize two AI-powered video analysis systems to provide “visual feedback” and “pickleball analytics” to clients. One system is from PB Vision™ and the other is from VAIR™. VAIR stands for Visually Assessed International Rating.
Both systems use AI to analyze gameplay video and provide in-depth feedback that can be used to focus coaching as well as measure progress and improvement over time.

Analyzed results from PB Vision are very detailed, thorough, and easy-to-understand and track. The six major areas tracked by the PB Vision AI system include: Kitchen Game, Ball Control, Defense, Offense, Court IQ, and Targeting.
VAIR summarizes analytics in a similar fashion. The six areas they track for players are Serve, Dinking, Return of Serve, Speedups, Third Shot Drops, and Resets.

How This Service Works
You can contact me directly to plan and schedule a gameplay videotaping session on Court 20 at the West Amenity Center. I’ll videotape two of your games and if desired, conduct Gameplay Assessments (or Checks) at the same time.
We then meet a few days later to review the analytics generated by these AI-powered systems and the results from my courtside observations. I’ll help you understand the results, discuss needed improvements, and integrate this information into our next coaching session or to plan next steps (if this is the first time we’ve worked together).
